Mick Whitewood was born in Melbourne, Australia, grew up in London, England and signed with Arsenal F.C. from 1986 - 1991. He has lived in SWFL for 17 years this is his 3rd year at Ida Baker High School with a coaching record of 30-10-7.

     Coaching Accomplishments :

Mick Whitewood, entering his fourth year at Ida S. Baker High School, has quickly become one of the area’s most respected coaches. The 2010 (LCAC) Lee County Athletic Conference Coach of the year looks to build on the foundation laid over the past three season’s in making Ida S. Baker one of the areas Elite High School Programs.

Coach Whitewood also an assistant coach at Webber International University brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our relatively new Soccer program and he has big plans for the program. Along with playing professional football (Soccer) in England at the highest level, Coach Whitewood holds a F.A. level II license from England, is certified through the A.C.A. (American Coaching Association), and holds a USSF D license.

 The Boys Bulldog Soccer Program has not only found success on the pitch but in the classroom as well, last season they were ranked 13th in the State, in class 4A, with a team GPA of 3.249. The 2009/10 season also saw the rograms first player to sign with a D 1 University, Harvey Rincon (Team Captain) will be making the trip to Quinnipiac University in Connecticu this fall. Coach Whitewood is proud to boast that in his 3 years at the helm we have been able to send 7 players off to play college ball with soccer and academic scholarships.

 The 2009/10 season was one for the school record books with the most wins in a season (20) a district final appearance a regional playoff appearance, and the Bulldogs first championship was brought home with the LCAC Title. “We have achieved so much, so quickly, and I don’t intend to take our foot off the pedal anytime soon, but the real test is to be consistent year in and year out and be there competing for the District Championship every year. I think we have laid the foundation of something very special here at Baker, Now we will continue to go forward with my philosophy, beliefs, work ethic, and continue to be one of the best, if not the best Boys High School Soccer Program in the State” say's Coach Whitewood.
